Gladstone Park Students to Play Pacific School Games

The trio will take on

THIS trio comes with a game day warning: catch me if you can.

Twins Zyon and Dre Iosefo and Charlotte Jackson, who are “dynamite” on the field thanks to their speed, have been selected for the Victorian touch rugby team 12-and-under sides.

The School of the Good Shepherd students from Gladstone Park were chosen after excelling at several tryouts.

Sports co-ordinator David Kehagias said it was huge achievement to have three players out of 14 from the same school.

“They have a really good game sense and tactical knowledge but they also are really fast runners,” he said.

“They all have promising futures in the sport.”

The Team Vic touch rugby sides will compete at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide in December.

Dre and Zyon, who relish the fast paced nature of the game, said they felt proud to represent Victoria.

Dre said despite playing alongside his brother there was no rivalry.

“We aren’t competitive we always work together,” he said.

Charlotte, the only girl from the school who plays touch rugby, said she wanted to see how far the sport could take her.

All three said they were confident of their chances of taking home the trophy.

Zyon, Dre and Charlotte are this week’s junior nominees for the Local Sports Stars awards.
